RESOLUTION N0. 87- 32 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village, Ohio, has been a participant in <br />the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program of the federal govern- <br />ment whereby government surplus foods are distributed to those who are <br />in need and can demonstrate their qualifications; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been rumored that the federal government may <br />end its support of the aforesaid surplus food distribution program; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />feel that the surplus food distribution program provides a valuable <br />benefit to those in need and, therefore, support its continuation; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY-THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio, hereby urge the federal government to continue participation in <br />the temporary emergency food assistance program. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Walter <br />Hoag, Director, Suburban Government Surplus Food Program, Shore Civic <br />Center, 296 E. 222nd Street, Euclid, Ohio 44123, where it will be <br />forwarded, along with similar resolutions from neighboring <br />communities, to State and Federal Senators and Representatives. <br />Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO <br />CONTINUE ITS TEMPORARY EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE <br />PROGRAM. <br />Section 4.
