RESOLUTION N0. S7- 33 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor and Members of Council <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF APRIL AS <br />FAIR HOUSING MONTH <br />WHEREAS, recent studies have documented the continued <br />existence of unlawful discrimination on this country's housing market <br />and of segregated communities and school districts; and <br />WHEREAS, both Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and <br />the laws of the State of Ohio guarantee the right of every citizen, <br />regardless of race, sex, religion, national origin or handicap, to <br />buy, rent or sell housing; and <br />WHEREAS, many areas in this country have undergone or are <br />undergoing a process of successful integration and are in need of <br />support to ensure their continued existence as racially diverse <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village is such a community which takes <br />great pride in its rich diversity and which actively seeks to preserve <br />its heterogeneity; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Council on its own behalf and on behalf of the <br />Mayor and Administration does hereby designate April as Fair Housing <br />Month in Mayfield Village, and does hereby join with the rest of the <br />nation in dedicating itself to combatting unlawful housing discrimi- <br />nation and encouraging the development of balanced residential living <br />patterns, both locally and throughout the country. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby instructed and <br />authorized to publish copies of this Resolution in the places <br />designated for the posting of ordinances and resolutions pursuant to <br />the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio. <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby instructed and <br />authorized to furnish Mr. Paul L. Krutko, Community Development <br />Division Manager of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, with a duly inscribed copy <br />of this Resolution. <br />Section 4. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
