ORDINANCE NO. 78 /3 <br />gy; Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE DECLARING FALSE ARREST <br />INSURANCE TO BE NON-COMPETITIVE AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE PURCHASE OF SAME <br />Whereas, Love Insurance Agency currently provides <br />false arrest insurance for the members of the police department <br />and certain officials, as well as for the Uillage itself; and <br />Whereas, the renewal contract will carry a premium of <br />more than $2500, which would normally make it subject to bids; <br />and <br />Whereas, the Law Director has advised that there is <br />currently no market providing as broad a policy to new risks <br />regardless of premium, so that advertising and bidding would <br />be a needless expense; now, therefore, <br />: <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1: False arrest insurance is declared to be <br />non-competitive in the existing insurance market. <br />Section 2: The Mayor and Finance Director are authorized <br />and directed to renew the expiring policy with Western World <br />Insurance Company through the Love Insurance Agency at the <br />currently quoted premiums, not to exceed $3,500. <br />Section 3: This is an emergency ordinance immediately <br />necessary to protect the Village from liability and to protect <br />its officers, thus preserving the peace and safety of the <br />municipality. It shall take effect immediately upon passage <br />by the affirmative vote of not less than five members elected <br />to Council and approval by the Mayor, or otherwise at the <br />earliest time allowed by law. <br />Passed:3/20/78 <br />Attest: <br />Approve
