ORDINANCE NO. 88- 12 . <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Fred N. Carmen <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZ ING THE MAYOR AND PRESIDENT <br />OF COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH HAMILTON <br />INSURANCE AGENCIES TN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />FOURTEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS <br />($14, 309.00 ) FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLICE <br />PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING MARCH 16, <br />1988 AND TERMINATING MARCH 16, 1989, SUSPENDING <br />THE COMPETITIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENT OF SECTION <br />123.02 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village has previously retained the <br />services of the Edward H. Sutton Insurance Agency, Inc, as its <br />insurance consultant; and <br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid consultant has shopped for police <br />professional liability insurance on behalf of the municipality; and <br />WHEREAS, consultant has recommended that the municipality <br />purchase a policy of police professional liability insurance through <br />the Hamilton Insurance Agencies, the carrier being National Casualty <br />Company; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that the <br />solicitation of competitive bids by advertisement as required by <br />Section 123.02 of the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />would result in bids not equal in terms or conditions and, therefore, <br />not truly competitive; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have further determined that <br />few insurance carriers are bidding in the municipal insurance market; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have, therefore, determined <br />that the competitive bidding requirement is to be suspended in order <br />to allow the municipality to purchase the policy of police <br />professional liability insurance it feels is best suited for its <br />needs; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and President of Council are hereby <br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Hamilton <br />Insurance Agencies for the purchase of a policy of police professional <br />liability insurance for the period commencing March 16, 1988 and <br />terminating March 16, 1989. <br />Section 2. The <br />hereinabove shall be in an <br />Three Hundred Nine Dollars <br />premium for the policy period <br />amount not to <br />($14,309.00) <br />exceed Fourteen <br />and shall be in <br />referred to <br />Thousand <br />accordance <br />
