ORDINANCE N0. 88-13 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE ENACTING SECTIONS 139.021 AND 141.07 <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO, PERTAINING TO TRAINING OF POLICE OFFICERS <br />AND FIREFIGHTERS, REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 87-34 <br />AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio enacted <br />Ordinance No. 87-34 on November 16, 1987; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance enacted Sections 139.021 and 141.07 <br />pertaining to the training of police officers and firefighters, <br />respectively; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance required that all original <br />appointees to either the Police Department or Fire Department of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, execute, contemporaneous with their original <br />appointments, an agreement with the municipality such that in the <br />event the appointee voluntarily terminates his employment with the <br />municipality within one (1) year following the date of such appoint- <br />ment then such appointee shall reimburse the municipality for all sums <br />paid to provide the appointee with the instruction and training <br />required by the Ohio Revised Code to attain the status of either a <br />police officer or firefighter; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />have determined that such requirement should extend to part-time <br />police officers and firefighters; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. There is hereby enacted Sections 139.021 and <br />141.07 of the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio which <br />shall read as follows: <br />Chapter 139 <br />Police Department <br />* x <br />139.021 Contract <br />Contemporaneous with their original appointments to the <br />Police Department of Mayfield Village, Ohio, all original full- <br />time appointees and part-time hirees from and after the effective <br />date of this Section shall execute an agreement, as approved by <br />the Director of Law, with the municipality such that in the event <br />the appointee or hiree voluntarily terminates his employment with <br />
