84A Commercial and Heavy Vehicles 339.99 <br />(i) Transporting Hitchhiker or other Unauthorized Person Prohibited. <br />(1) No person, except the carrier, employees of the carrier, representatives <br />of the shipper when their presence is necessary for the safe care of live- <br />stock, representatives of the Commission, or public officials in the proper <br />performance of their duties, shall be transported upon any motor vehicle <br />transporting property. However, each person permitted by this paragraph <br />(i)(1) to be transported upon such motor vehicle, except those engaged in the <br />actual operation of the motor vehicle, shall have printed or written authority <br />therefor from the carrier. This rule does not prohibit the carrying of any <br />person in case of an accident, or in other extreme emergencies . <br />(2) Except in case of emergency, no driver shall permit a motor vehicle to <br />which he is assigned to be driven by any person not authorized to drive such <br />vehicle by the motor carrier in control thereof. <br />(Ord. 936.
