<br />Village, Ohio, pursuant to Article III, Section 7 u. I
<br />the Village Charter, has proposed two (2) Ordi-
<br />nances, both of whith will appear on the ballot
<br />at the Primary Election to be held on Tuesday,
<br />May 2, 1989. The full texf of each proposed
<br />Ordinance is as follows:
<br />Ordinance No. 89-3:
<br />The annual salary of the Council of Mayfield Vil-
<br />lage, Ohio, shall be Four Thousand Five Hun-
<br />dred Dollars ($4,500.00), effective January l,
<br />1990; Five Thousand One Hundred Dollars
<br />($5,100.00), effective January 1, 1991; Five
<br />Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($5,700.00),
<br />effective January 1, 1992; and Six Thousand
<br />Three Hundred Dollars ($6,300.00), effective
<br />January l, 1993, and continuing thereafter.
<br />Ordinance No. 89-5:
<br />The annual salary of the Mayor of Mayfield Vil-
<br />lage, Ohio, shall be Ten Thousand Nine Hundred
<br />Dollars ($10,900.00), effective lanuary 1,
<br />1990; Eleven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
<br />($11,500.00), effective January 1, 1991;
<br />Twelve Thousand One Hundred Dollars
<br />($12,100.00), effective January 1, 1992;
<br />Twelve Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars
<br />($12,700.00), effective lanuary l, 1993 and
<br />confinuing thereafter.

<br />Please take notice that the Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, has proposed the
<br />following two (2) Amendments to the Village Charter, both of which will appear on the
<br />ballot at the Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, May 2, 1989. The full text of
<br />each proposed Amendment is as follows:
<br />1. Shall Article 111, Section 7, Part (a) of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, be
<br />amended to allow additional compensation for the President of Council so that the
<br />? new Article III, Section 7, Part (a) shall read as follows:
<br />' SECTION 7. SALARIES, BONDS AND COMPENSATION.
<br />(a) The Council shall have the power to fix all compensation paid by the Municipality
<br />and the salary of its own members except as othe'rwise provided in this Charter.
<br />Any person may be required by the Council, from time to time, to furnish a bond for
<br />the faithful performance of thaf person's duties and the Council shall provide that
<br />? the premium for such bond be paid by the Municipality. The Council shall not
<br />" increase the compensation for itself or the Mayor from and after the effective dafe
<br />• of this section unless such increase in compensation has been enacted by ordinance
<br />and submitted to the electorate for approval by a majority vote thereof. Such
<br />. compensation, when so fixed, shall become effecfive on the 1 st day of January of
<br />the following year and shall remain in effect unless and until increase in accordance
<br />• with this section. Council may decrease compensation for itself and the Mayor at its
<br />.? sole discretion. Each member of Council shall be compensated equally, both newly
<br />'. elected members and those serving the balance of a term. In addition to the
<br />.' compensation as a member of Council, the President of Council, as provided in this
<br />" Charter, shall receive an additional Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month.
<br />- 2. Shall Article III, Section 8, Part (A) of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, be
<br />amended by repealing, substituting and replacing the existing last sentence of
<br />- Article III, Section 8, Parf (A) so that it reads as follows:
<br />• SECTION 8. COUNCIL MEETINGS.
<br />(A) The Council shall hald at least one regular meeting in each calendar month. A
<br />majority of the members of the Council shall constitute a quorum for the transaction
<br />' of business at any meeting of the Council, but a lesser number may adjourn the
<br />meeting from time to time. At any meeting at which a quorum is present, any
<br />ordinance or resolution may be passed or adopted, or any other action may be
<br />taken, by the affirmative vote of a majority of inembers of the Council unless a
<br />" larger number be required by the provisions of this Charter. The Clerk of Council
<br />shall keep a record of its proceedings in a journal in which the yea or nay vote of
<br />each Councilman voting on every ordinance or resolution, and the action of Council
<br />on other measures, shall be recorded. The Council's journal shall be available for
<br />. public inspection at all reasonable times. All meetings of the Council shall be open
<br />' to the public unless an executive session is called, pursuant to the Ohio Revised
<br />Code.
