O1/19/89 <br />-- ORDINANCE N0. 89- 4 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and _Cdun'cilmemliers-;.Basile, Cinco, Flynn,, <br />Mills, Rinker, and.Santoro <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />SUBMIT'TING TO THE EI.ECTORATE OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />A PROPOSED A2ENDMU TO THE CHARTER OF THE VILLAGE <br />ALLOWING ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR THE PRBSIDENT <br />OF COUNCIL, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECESSARY PROCSDURES <br />IN CONNECTION HSREWITH AND DECLARING AN SrsEItGENCY <br />WHLREAS, the existing Charter under Article X permits Council, by vote of <br />at least two-thirds (2/3) of its members, to propose any amendment to the <br />Charter for submission for approval of a majority of the electors voting <br />thereon; and <br />WHEREAS, Article III, Section 15, provides for one (1) of the members of <br />Council to be chosen as President of Council; and <br />WHSREAS, the President of Council, in addition to having all the powers, <br />duties, functions, obligations and rights of other members, must preside at <br />all meetings of Council and shall appoint and coordinate the various <br />committees of Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council desire to amend Article III, Section 7, of <br />the Charter of Mayfield Village to allow for additional compensation for the <br />President of Council for assuming such responsibility; and <br />WHSREAS, the next regularly scheduled Primary Election is to be held on <br />Tuesday, May 2, 1989, and any such issue must, therefore, be submitted to the <br />Cuyahoga County Board of Elections at least sixty (60) days prior thereto, <br />March 2, 1989. <br />NOW, THLREFORE, BE IT ORDAINSD BY THS COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Pursuant to Article X of the Charter of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio, the Village Council proposes the following amendment to the Charter of <br />the Village, said proposed amendment to be submitted to the electorate of the <br />Municipality at their regularly scheduled Primary Election to be held on the <br />second (2nd) day of May, 1989. The proposed amendment shall be designated by <br />a ballot question number. The proposed amendment and respective ballot <br />question shall be as follows:
