*As Amended 1/23/89 ORDINANCE N0. 89-5 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor.Carmen and Councilmembers Basile, Cinco, Flynn, Mills, Rinker, and.Santoro AN ORDINANCE INCRL+A.SING THE COMPENSATION OF TH6 MAYOR, SUBMITTING TO THE EI.ECTORATE FOR APPROVAL, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECESSARY PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION THSREWITH AND DECLARING AN Fl-MGENCY WHEREAS, during the past several years, Mayfield Village has incurred extensive development in residential and commercial areas; and WHLREAS, such developments have required an extraordinary amount of time and effort by the various elected officials in order to protect the interest of Mayfield Village; and WHEREAS, the existing Charter under Article III, Section-7, provides that an increase in compensation for Council or the Mayor must be enacted by ordinance and submitted to the electorate for approval by a majority vote thereof; and WHEREAS, the next election is to be held on Tuesday, May 2, 1989, and any such issue, therefore, be submitted to the Cuyahoga County Board of Election at least seventy-five (75) days prior thereto, on February 16, 1989; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. The annual salary of the Mayor of Mayfield Village, Ohio, shall be Ten Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars ($10,900.00), effective January 1, 1990; Eleven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($11,500.00), effective January 1, 1991; Twelve Thousand One Hundred Dollars ($12,100.00), effective January 1, 1992; Twelve Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($12,700.00). effective January 1, 1993, and continuing thereafter. The question to appear on the ballot shall be as follows: Shall Ordinance No. 89- , increasing the Mayor's salary from Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to Ten Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars ($10,900.00), beginning 01/01/90 and providing for three (3) increases of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) each year for three (3) years effective 01/01/91 through 01/01/93, be adopted?
