M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 89- 10 <br />Page -8- <br />7. Whenever a uniform item is damaged or destroyed in the line of duty <br />then that item shall be replaced out of the uniform allowance. How- <br />ever, should any employee's maintenance and replacement costs in any <br />year exceed the uniform allowance for that year, upon presentation of <br />receipts evidencing such excess costs, and subject to the recommen- <br />dation of the appropriate Chief or department head, the employee may <br />be reimbursed for such excess costs. Whenever a uniform item is lost <br />or destroyed by an employee in a manner not related to the performance <br />of his duty then that item shall be replaced at the cost of the <br />employee subject to the recommendation of the appropriate Chief or <br />department head. <br />8. Whenever different or additional uniform items are required due to the <br />promotion of a full-time member of the Police or Fire Department, the <br />Municipality shall purchase those items for which receipted bills are <br />presented together with an approval for payment from the Chief of the <br />Department. <br />9. Each full-time member of the Service Department shall be reimbursed <br />for work clothing purchased in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred <br />Dollars ($400.00) per year. The Finance Director is authorized to <br />make such distributions during January of each year. Receipted <br />bills evidencing the purchases will be submitted to the Building <br />Commissioner for his approval and then on the Finance Director for <br />payment. The uniform allowance stated herein may also be used for <br />uniform maintenance. <br />10. Each police officer, excluding the Chief of Police, shall be <br />compensated in addition to the salary set forth in Section 1, for <br />attendance required in Court if such appearance occurs while the <br />police officer is not on duty. The police officer under these <br />circumstances shall be paid at the officer's regular hourly rate <br />as set forth in Subsection (a) hereinabove and shall receive a <br />minimum of two (2) hours of such additional compensation. <br />11. In the event that a police officer, firefighter or service department <br />employee is required to report for any duties other than those on <br />his regular shift then such employee shall be compensated for such <br />additional duties at his regular hourly rate of pay as set forth in <br />Subsection (A) hereinabove. Under these circumstances, each such <br />employee shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours additional compen- <br />sation. All overtime shall be approved in advance by the Mayor unless <br />there exists an emergency that threatens the health, safety and <br />welfare of the Municipality. <br />12. There shall be no uniform allowance or maintenance for part-time <br />police dispatcliers or police secretaries.
