3/20./8.9 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 89-11 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and the Entire Council <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING TH8 MAYOR AND PRESIDSNT OF COUNCIL <br />TO ENTSR INTO A CONTRACT WITH HAMILTON INSURANCE AGENCIES <br />IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO F.XCEED <br />THIRTEBN THOUSAND FNS HUAIDRED FORTY DOLLARS ($13,540.00) <br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLICE PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE <br />FOR MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />FOR THB PffitIOD COrMENCING MARCH 16, 1989 <br />ANID TgRMLNATING MARCH 16, 1990, <br />SUSPffiNIDING THE COMPETITIVS BIDDING RSQtIREMENT <br />OF SECTION 123.02 CODIFISD ORDIldANCES <br />OF MAYFIffi.D VILI.AGE, OHIO, <br />ANID DECLARING AN BMERGBNCY <br />WHRREAS, Mayfield Village has previously retained the services of the <br />Edward H. Sutton Insurance Agency, Inc. as its insurance consultant; and <br />WHSREAS, the aforesaid consultant has shopped for police professional <br />liability insurance on behalf of the Municipality; and <br />WHSREAS, consultant has recommended that the Municipality purchase a <br />policy of police professional liability insurance through the Hamilton Insur- <br />ance Agencies, the carrier being National Casualty Company; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that the solicitation of <br />competitive bids by advertisement as required by Section 123.02 of the Codi- <br />fied Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio, would result in bids not equal in <br />terms or conditions and, therefore, not truly competitive; and <br />WHERFAS, the Mayor and Council have further determined that few insurance <br />carriers are bidding in the municipal insurance market; and <br />WHERSAS, the Mayor and Council have, therefore, determined that the <br />competitive bidding requirement is to be suspended in order to allow the <br />Municipality to purchase the policy of police professional liability insurance <br />it feels is best suited for its needs; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINSD BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and President of Council are hereby authorized and <br />directed to enter into a contract with Hamilton Insurance Agencies for the <br />purchase of a policy of police professional liability insurance for the period <br />commencing March 16, 1989, and terminating March 16, 1990.
