<br />Please take notice that the
<br />Council of Mayfield Village,
<br />Ohio, has proposed the follow-
<br />inq two (2) Amendments to the
<br />Village Charter, both of which
<br />will appear on the ballot at the
<br />General Election to be held on
<br />Tuesday, November 7, 1989.
<br />The full text of each proposed
<br />Amendment is as follows:
<br />1. Shall Article III, Section 7,
<br />Part (a) of the Charter of May-
<br />field Vi(lage, Ohio, be amended
<br />to allow additional compensa-
<br />tion for the President of Council
<br />so that the new Article III, Sec-
<br />tion 7, Part (a) shall read as
<br />follows:
<br />SECTION 7. Salaries, Bonds
<br />and Compensation
<br />(a) The Council shall have the
<br />power to fix all compensation
<br />paid by the Municipality and
<br />the salary of its own members
<br />except as otherwise provided
<br />in this Charter. Any person may
<br />be required by the Council,
<br />from time to time, to furnish a
<br />bond for the faithful perfor-
<br />mance of that person's duties
<br />and the Council shall provide
<br />that the premium for such bond
<br />be paid by the Municipality. The
<br />Council shaii not increase the
<br />compensation for itself or the
<br />Mayor from and after the effec-
<br />tive date of this section unless
<br />such increase in compensation
<br />has been enacted by ordinance
<br />and submitted to the electorate
<br />for approval by a majority vote
<br />thereof. Such compensation,
<br />when so fixed, shall become
<br />effective on the 1 st day of Janu-
<br />ary of the following year and
<br />shall remain in effect unless
<br />and until increase in accor-
<br />dance with this section. Council
<br />may decrease compensation
<br />for itself and the Mayor at its
<br />sole discretion. Each member
<br />of Council shall be compen-
<br />sated equally, both newly
<br />elected members and those
<br />serving the balance of a term. In
<br />addition to the compensation
<br />as a member of Council, the
<br />President of Council, as pro-
<br />vided in this Charter shall re-
<br />ceive an additional Fi{ty Dollars
<br />($50.00) permonth.
<br />2. Sha(I Article III, Section 8,
<br />Part (A) of the Charter of May-
<br />field Villaqe, Ohio, be amended
<br />by repealing substituting and
<br />replacing the existing lasl sen-
<br />tence of Article III. Section B.
<br />Part (A) so that it reads as
<br />follows:

<br />least one regular meeting in
<br />each calendar month. A major-
