<br />ORDSNANCE N0. 78- 31 <br />Page -2- <br />Village, Ohio, be amended to provide that the compensation of <br />each member of Council, except the President of Council, shall <br />at all times be equal to every other member of Council, com- <br />mencinq as of the beginning of the current term of office?" <br />If paper ballots are used, a space on such ballot, immediately <br />followinq the question, shall be provided for the voter to <br />indicate "for the amendment" or "against the amendment". If <br />voting machines are used, the machine shall state the question <br />and shall provide for the machine recordation of a vote with <br />either the words "for the amendment" or "yes", or, in the <br />alternative, "against the amendment" or "no". <br />Section 4. The Clerk of Council is hereby author- <br />ized and directed to publish the full text of the proposed <br />Charter amendment as set forth in Section 1 of this ordinance <br />once a week for not less than two (2) consecutive weeks in <br />any newspaper of general circulation within the municipality, <br />with the first such publication beinq at least fifteen (15) <br />days prior to the election established by Section 2 of this <br />ordinance. <br />Section 5. The Clerk of Council is hereby further <br />authorized to certify this ordinance to the Board of Elections <br />of Cuyahoga County for placement on the ballot for the election <br />established by Section 2 of this ordinance. <br />Section 6. Ordinance 78-10 is hereby repealed. <br />Section 7. Pursuant to Article X of the Charter of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, this ordinance shall take effect only <br />if passed by the affirmative vote of at least five (5) members <br />elected to Council and approved by the Mayor and, when passed, <br />shall be immediately effective for the purpose of establishing <br />such question at the next regularly scheduled primary election <br />within the municipality.
