NtSULUI IUfV fvU, __3g_46. <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL <br />RESOURCES TO STUDY THE CHAGRIN RIVER FOR DESI.r,NATION <br />AS A WILD OR SCENIC RIVER AND DECLARING INTENT TO CO- <br />OPERATE WITH OTHER AGENCIES AND UNITS OF GOVERNMENT <br />IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A RIVER ASSISTANCE MANUAL. <br />INTRODUCED BY COUNCIL AS A WHOLE <br />IJHEREAS, pursuant to section 1501.16 et seg. of the Ohio Revised <br />Code, the Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources may declare an <br />area to be a wild, scenic or recreational river area; and <br />IJHEREAS, the Village of Mayfield has reason <br />to support the study of the Chagrin River to determine if it qualifies for designa- <br />tion as wild or scenic, as outlined in Ohio Revised Code section 1501.16 et sec.; <br />and <br />WPIEREAS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources requires a majority <br />of directly affected counties, municipalities, and.townships to submit a request <br />for a study of any river; and . <br />WHEREAS, the local development of a river assistance manual is <br />essential for the implementation of a program to protect and preserve a designated <br />river. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> <br />- Section 1. The Villaae of MavfiPld requests the <br />Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to study the Chagrin River <br />for designation as a wild or scenic river area, pursuant to section 1501.16 et se . <br />of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 2. The Villaqe of Mavfield agrees <br />to cooperate with other units of government and agencies in the development of <br />a river assistance manual for the Chagrin River. <br />Section 3.
