ORDINANCE N0. 79-69 INTRODUCED BY: AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE INCREASING THE COMPLEMENT OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BY THE ADDITION OF ONE POLICE OFFICER. WHEREAS, the current complement of the Mayfield Village Police Departsnent numbers 13 men; and WHEREAS, the current complement on the police force does not provide ample manpower in that it often allows for the deployment of only one or two police officers for patrol duty; and WHEREAS, the scheduling of vacations with the current complement has created a further shortage of manpower requirinq the remaining officers to work extended hours and weekends which would ordinarily be off-duty time, thus creating an undue hardship on those police officers; and WHEREAS, the current complement of the police force does not provide manpower adequate to provide the necessary police protection £or the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Villaqe; and WHEREAS, the Budget and Appropriations Committee of Council is currently planning for the addition of one officer to the complement of the Police Department at such time as the necessary funds become available; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. The complement of the Police Department is hereby increased by one (1) patrolman, bringinq the complement to fourteen (14). Section 2. The initial appointment is subject to certification from the Director of Finance that municipal funds are available to compensate the additional patrolman. Section 3. This is an emergency Ordinance immediately necessary for the preservation of the peace and safety of the community in that the addition o£ one (1) patrolman will help to insure the preservation of law and order. It shall therefore take effect immediately upon passage by the affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the ORDINANCE NO.
