ORDINANCE N0. 79-69 <br />INTRODUCED BY: <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE INCREASING THE <br />COMPLEMENT OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />BY THE ADDITION OF ONE POLICE OFFICER. <br />WHEREAS, the current complement of the Mayfield Village Police <br />Departsnent numbers 13 men; and <br />WHEREAS, the current complement on the police force does not <br />provide ample manpower in that it often allows for the deployment of <br />only one or two police officers for patrol duty; and <br />WHEREAS, the scheduling of vacations with the current complement <br />has created a further shortage of manpower requirinq the remaining <br />officers to work extended hours and weekends which would ordinarily be <br />off-duty time, thus creating an undue hardship on those police officers; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the current complement of the police force does not <br />provide manpower adequate to provide the necessary police protection <br />£or the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Villaqe; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Budget and Appropriations Committee of Council <br />is currently planning for the addition of one officer to the complement <br />of the Police Department at such time as the necessary funds become <br />available; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The complement of the Police Department is hereby <br />increased by one (1) patrolman, bringinq the complement to fourteen (14). <br />Section 2. The initial appointment is subject to certification <br />from the Director of Finance that municipal funds are available to <br />compensate the additional patrolman. <br />Section 3. This is an emergency Ordinance immediately necessary <br />for the preservation of the peace and safety of the community in that <br />the addition o£ one (1) patrolman will help to insure the preservation <br />of law and order. It shall therefore take effect immediately upon <br />passage by the affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members <br />elected to Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the <br />ORDINANCE NO.
