ORDINANCE N0. 74-14 INTRODUCED BY: COUnCil d5 a WhOle AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR Atd ELECTION ON THE ADOPTION OF THE PROPOSED CHARTER FOR THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD AS REPORTED BY THE CHARTER COMMISSION Ldf3EREAS, the Charter Commission of the Village of Mayfield heretofore elected, has submitted a draft of the charter for the Village of Mayfield and has designated the 7th day of May, 1974 as the time for an election on the adoption of said charter, and WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Council to make provision for such election in so far as not prescribed by general law. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, State of Ohio, that Section 1. The question of the adoption of the proposed charter for the Village of Mayfield, as reported by the Charter Commission, shall be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the Village of Mayfield, at an election to be held on Tuesday, the 7th day of May, 1974 during the regular hours of voting on such date as prescribed by general law. Section 2. The ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, be entitled "Village Charter Ballot" and the question to be submitted on said ballot shall be in words following: "Shall the proposed charter, as reported by the Charter Commission of the Village of Mayfield be adopted?" To the left of said wording in boxes, with appropriate place for marking, shall appear the words "yes" and "no" and each voter shall indicate his vote in the place so provided. Section 3. That the Mayor be and he is hereby directed to make the nec- essary arrangements with the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County for giving notice and placing said question on the ballot. Section 4. The Clerk-Treasurer be, and he hereby is, directed to mail a copy of the proposed charter to each elector whose name appears on the poll books of the last regular or general election of said Village at least thirty days before the date of such election. Section 5. The Clerk-Treasurer is hereby directed to certify a copy of this ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County. Section 6. Council declares this to be an emergency ordinance necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, such emergency arising out of the necessity to make provision for such election in conformance with the Resolution of the Charter Commission; wherefore, this ordinance sha11 take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
