ORDINANCE N0. 74-14 <br />INTRODUCED BY: COUnCil d5 a WhOle <br />AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR Atd ELECTION ON THE ADOPTION <br />OF THE PROPOSED CHARTER FOR THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD AS <br />REPORTED BY THE CHARTER COMMISSION <br />Ldf3EREAS, the Charter Commission of the Village of Mayfield heretofore <br />elected, has submitted a draft of the charter for the Village of Mayfield and has <br />designated the 7th day of May, 1974 as the time for an election on the adoption <br />of said charter, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Council to make provision for such election <br />in so far as not prescribed by general law. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, <br />State of Ohio, that <br />Section 1. The question of the adoption of the proposed charter for the <br />Village of Mayfield, as reported by the Charter Commission, shall be submitted <br />to a vote of the qualified electors of the Village of Mayfield, at an election to <br />be held on Tuesday, the 7th day of May, 1974 during the regular hours of voting <br />on such date as prescribed by general law. <br />Section 2. The ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, be <br />entitled "Village Charter Ballot" and the question to be submitted on said ballot <br />shall be in words following: "Shall the proposed charter, as reported by the Charter <br />Commission of the Village of Mayfield be adopted?" To the left of said wording in <br />boxes, with appropriate place for marking, shall appear the words "yes" and "no" <br />and each voter shall indicate his vote in the place so provided. <br />Section 3. That the Mayor be and he is hereby directed to make the nec- <br />essary arrangements with the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County for giving notice <br />and placing said question on the ballot. <br />Section 4. The Clerk-Treasurer be, and he hereby is, directed to mail a copy <br />of the proposed charter to each elector whose name appears on the poll books of the <br />last regular or general election of said Village at least thirty days before the <br />date of such election. <br />Section 5. The Clerk-Treasurer is hereby directed to certify a copy of this <br />ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County. <br />Section 6. Council declares this to be an emergency ordinance necessary for <br />the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, such emergency arising out <br />of the necessity to make provision for such election in conformance with the <br />Resolution of the Charter Commission; wherefore, this ordinance sha11 take effect <br />and be in force from and after its passage. <br />
