ORDINANCE N0. 72-30 <br />BY: MR. BOGER <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SOLICITATION OF SALES OF <br />GOODS, WARES;'MERCHANDISE, PRINTED MATTER AND <br />SERVICES IN OR UPON PRIVATE RESIDENCES AND REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE N0. 481. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section: 1. The practice of going in or upon private residences <br />in the Village of Mayfield for the purpose of soliciting or canvassing for <br />the. sale of goods, wares, merchandise, printed matter or services without <br />the previous invitation or request by the owner or occupant of said premises, <br />is hereby declared to be a nuisance and is punishable as a misdemeanor. <br />The provisions of this order shall not apply to an authorized representative <br />of a recognized locai educational, civic, religious, or charitable <br />organization or purpose. <br />Section 2. Sdhoever, in violation of Section 1 of this ordinance, <br />solicits orders for the sales of goods, wares, merchandise, printed <br />matter or services in or upon private residences in the Village of Mayfield <br />without the previous invitation or request of the owner or the occupant <br />of said premises shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $150.00, <br />or to be imprisoned for not more than three days or both, and each day's <br />violation shall constitute a separate offense. <br />Section 3. Ordinance No. 481, entitled "An Ordinance Regulating <br />Solicitation of Sales of Goods, Wares, Merchandise, and Printed Matter <br />in or upon Private Residences," is hereby repealed as of the effective date <br />on this Ordinance. <br />Section 4. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, <br />safety and welfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants in order <br />to safeguard against molestation, fraud, misrepresentation, and disorderly <br />conduct on the part of solicitors, and this Ordinance is to take effect and <br />be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. <br />Passed this 18th day of September, 1972. <br />~~~~~J~ <br />MAYOR-PIHJ3P8EN'i~ZTF L't70N('i~ <br />ATTEST: - <br />_ /~' ~- <br />AL) CLERKuTREASURER <br />
