Page 5 <br />Ordinance No. 73- 25 <br />(3) These provisions do not require installation of <br />automatic sprinkler protection for gasoline or oil storage <br />tanks. <br />The use of quenching oils, heating oils, or other oils at <br />elevated temperatures. <br />(b) Coating and drying processes and any associated kilns, <br />driers, or tenter framers, such as in the manufacture of oil cloth, <br />rubber-coated or water-proofed fabrics, artificial leather, patent leather, <br />and linoleum, where fire may occur from sparks, over-heating, or spon- <br />taneous heating. <br />(c) The manufacture, storage, or use of highly combustible <br />solid materials, or chemicals, such as nitro-cellulose (including film), <br />pyrosylin, explosives, munitions, matches, fireworks, flares, and signal <br />lights. <br />(d) Processes using or producing combustible dusts, such as <br />pulverizing and grinding as in starch works; graaLn handling as in grain <br />elevators; and flour and cereal handling as in grist mills. Processes <br />handling or exposing readily-combustible materials, such as woodworking; <br />cleaning and picking textile fibres; garnetting; upholstering; waste <br />handling; mattress and batting making and picking. <br />(e) Storage, where the nature, quantity, or piling of com- <br />bustible materials may make fire difficult to control, such as in high <br />piled storage of rags, waste paper, fibres such as cotton, jute, hemp, <br />etc., and crated or boxed goods. <br />Sec. '8. Council declares thss to be an emergency ordinance <br />necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, <br />such emergency arising out of the necessity to provide for the automatic <br />extinguishment of fire in buildings which because of their size, con- <br />struction or occupancy constitute a burden on the fire fighting facilities <br />of the Fire Department, without undue delay, in order to correct a <br />situation now deemed undesirable; wherefore this Ordinance shall take <br />effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />Passed this lg,~ day of Tune ~ 1973. <br />£F~ <br />ATTFiST <br />
