13 `~ <br />(2) <br />40 hours for such service in any one month. The assistant Chief shall act <br />as Chief of the Fire Department in the absence of the Chief, and shall receive <br />$10.75 for each fire or emergency call up to the first hour thereof, while <br />acting in the place of the Chief, and $2.15 for each additional hour or major <br />portions spent in answering such fire or emergency call; but, at all times <br />when the Chief is acting as such, the assistant Chief shall be paid at the <br />same rate of compensation as the other officers of the Fire Department. These <br />rates may be changed at any time by Council, by the passage of a Resolution or <br />Ordinance. <br />Section 3 (a). Each volunteer Fireman and each officer of the Fire <br />Department shall be compensated at the rate of $2.15 for each fire drill that <br />he attends, provided, however, that such fire drills are duly authorized by <br />the Chief of the Fire Department, or in his absence, by the Assistant Chief, <br />and, further provided that no person shall be paid for attending more than <br />two fire drills in any one calendar month; <br />Section 4. Each member and officer of the Fire Department shall be <br />responsible in the discharge of his duties to the Chief, or in his absence, to <br />the Assistant Chief, and the Chief shall in turn be responsible in the discharge <br />of his duties to the Mayor. <br />Section 5. Existing Ordinance No. 476, as amended by Ordinances Nos. <br />525, 604, 759, 793, 964 and 988, and all other Ordinances inconsistent herewith, <br />are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. <br />Section 6. This Ordinance is deemed to be an emergency measure, <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety <br />and welfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary, immediately, to have a full-time, daytime <br />Fireman so that there will always be someone ready to answer fire calls, and <br />this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after the date of its <br />passage. <br />Passed this Z/.ate' day of A/'~lL 1969. <br />J <br />C`. 7 <br />1~~ <br />ATTEST: .r"~% ~ •bfAYOR - PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL <br />~ l <br />(SEAL) CLER TREASURER <br /> <br />
