Sec. 1119.11 STREET TREES <br />The selection and spacing of trees shall be in accord with a street- <br />t~ <br />tree plan approved by the Commission. Trees should be planted along new <br />Village streets at an interval ,of 50 Peet. Tree species should be~selected <br />with such habit oP growth that they will Pill, the space desired within a <br />reasonable time, producing a pleasing effect in scale with adjacent <br />developments. Min:.ature tree species should not be used except Por <br />•• special design considerations oP scale, such.as is a mall, and not used <br />merely as a means of reducing pruning and a tree-care program. Trees of <br />untried species, of unknown endurance, or those requiring frequent sprey- <br />ing should not. be used. . <br />Trees generally recommended along streets are Red Maple, Norway_Maple,--- "" <br />Sugar Maple,•Red Oak,_ White Oak, Thornless Honey Locust, London Plane, <br />Amur Cork and Sweet Gum. Trees which have undesirable characteristics <br />such as, excessively thick foliage, low branches, unpleasant odors, <br />susceptibility to~disease or attack by insects or have large root systems, <br />such as Poplar, Willow, Cottonwood, American E1m,•various nut and fruit <br />trees, Ailanthus, Mountain Aah, and Oregon Maple shall sot be planted in <br />any tree lawn.::... •.. ' <br />A tree-planting program should be prepared by qualified landscape <br />architects for trees along the public streets and is public areas, includ- <br />ing but sot limited to: species to be used on specific streets along with <br />regulations controlling, spacing; distance Yrom curbs, street intersection a, <br />private driveways•and• street lights; and minimum"size and height to lower <br />branch..
