<br />AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE OFFENSES OF ASSAULT
<br />AND BATTERY UPON A TEACHER, SCHOOL EMPLOYEE, STUDENT
<br />OR OTHER PERSON DISRUPTING A CLASS OR SCHOOL ACTIVITY,
<br />AND USING IMPROPER, INDECENT OR PROFANE LANGUAGE
<br />TOWARD A TEACHER, SCHOOL EMPLOYEE, STUDENT OR OTHER
<br />PERSON.
<br />WHEREAS, throughout the country assaults, threats, menaces and
<br />obscene language have become prevalent in the schools toward teachers, pupils
<br />and other persons on~their way to and from schools. .
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the Council of the Village of
<br />Mayfield, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, that:
<br />Section 1. Assault and battery upon a teacher, scho
<br />student or other person disruotine a class or school activity.
<br />Whoever unlawfully assaults, strikes, threatens or menaces a
<br />teacher, instructor, professor, person in charge of a class
<br />of students, or any employee of any school, college or
<br />university, while in the performance of such person's duties,
<br />or whoever disrupts, disturbs or interferes with the teaching
<br />of any class of students, or whoever disrupts, disturbs or
<br />interferes with any activity conducted in a school, college
<br />or university building, or upon the campus or grounds thereof,
<br />or in any public place, or whoever improperly or unlawfully
<br />assaults, strikes, threatens, menaces, pursues or lays hands
<br />upon a student or other person in a school, college or
<br />university building or upon the grounds or campus thereof, or
<br />upon the way to or from any school, college or university, or
<br />on the cvay to or from any school, college or university
<br />sponsored activity, shall upon conviction thereof be fined
<br />not more than $500.00, or imprisoned not more than six months
<br />or both.
<br />Section 2. Use 4f improper, indecent or obscene language toward a
<br />teacher, school employee, student or other person.
<br />Whoever uses. improper, indecent or obscene language toward a
<br />teacher, instructor, professor, person in charge of a class
<br />of students, or employee of any school, college or university,
<br />while in the performance of his duties, or toward a student or
<br />other person in a school, college or university building, or
<br />upon the campus or grounds thereof, or upon the way to or from
<br />any school, college or university sponsored activity, shall,
<br />upon conviction thereof, be fined not more than $300.00 or
<br />imprisoned not more than thirty days,or both.
<br />Section 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
