Anproval of Establishment of Auxiliary Police Unit. Council <br />hereby approves the establishment of an Auxiliary Police Unit wi.thin the <br />Police Departmettt of the Village oP Mayfield, to work in times of war and <br />other emergency and to train aad prepare'for such oions, as part of the <br />CiviZ Defense Program of said pillage, and to exercise all of the powers <br />conferred by Section 737.161 of the Ohio Revised Code and any amendments <br />thereto, all under the direction of the Chief of Police under the control of <br />the Mayor. <br />reval; not entitled to <br />Sec. 2. Number of inembers, appointment and mo <br />certain benefits. The determination of the total n?ber of inembers of the <br />Auxiliary Police Unit shall'be determined jointly by the Chief of Police and <br />Civil De£ense Director, subject to approval of the Mayor and Council. The <br />Mayor shall, upon recomnendation o£ the Chief of Police and the Civil Defense <br />Director, appoi.¢t members of the Auxiliary Police Unit, subject to approval by <br />Council, and such members shall serve until removed by the Mayor. The Chief <br />of Police shall have exclusive control of the stationing and transferring of <br />the auxiliary police officers, under such general rules and regulations?as the <br />Mayor may prescribe. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall not be considered <br />as regular members of the Police Department for purposes of tenure, and shall <br />not receive compensation'nor be entitled to participation in the Police Pension <br />Fund or any successor thereto. <br />Sec. 3. 'Eligibility for Workmen's Compensation as Civil Defense <br />Volunteers or Idorkers. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit, who take the <br />Loyalty Oath as required by Section 4123.037 of the Ohio Yevised Code and are <br />registered or enrolled itt writing in accordance with Section 4123.036 thereof, <br />shall be entitled to the benefits of Workmen's Compensation as Civil Defettse <br />Volunteers or Workers under Sections 4123.031 to 4123.037* both inclusive. <br />gec. 4. Functions and Duties. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit <br />shall have such functions and duties in times of war and emergettcy and in <br />preparation and training for such occasions as are set forth in Chapter 595, <br />
