Sec. 6. Vehicle Markings Required. No commercial vehicle shall be operated upon the streets, highways, bridges or culverts within this Municipality which does not display on the side thereof in plain, legible letters and figures the weight of the vehicle fully equipped, manufacturer's rated carrying capacity, and the tire widths of the vehicle. Sec. 7. Zog Book, Safety Equipment. No motor transportation company or private motor carrier, as defined in Ohio Revised Code 4921.04 shall operate any.motor vehicle upon the roads, streets or highways in this Municipality, without carrying a log book, safety equipment and complying with all other rules and regulations as prescribed by the Public Utilities Conmission of Ohio. Sec. 8. Vehicle Identification. No motor transportation company or private motor carrier, as.defined in Ohio Revised Code 4921.01 and 4921.02, shall operate any motor vehicle on the roads, streets or highways in this Municipality, without having displayed on both sides thereof in such places as to be easily seen by anyone wishing to identify the vehicle, the following in letters and figures not less than two inches in height and three-eighths inches in width; (a) Company number of vehicle, (b) Company name, location and state Sec. 9. Transporting Hitchhiker or other Unauthorized Persons Prohibited. a. No person, except the carrier, employees of the carrier, represett- tatives of the shipper when their presence is necessary for the safe care of livestock, representatives of the Commission, or public officials in the proper performance of their duties, shall be transported upon atty motor vehicle transporting property; provided, however, that each person permitted by this paragraph to be transported upott such motor vehicle, except those engaged in the actual operation of the motor vehicle, shall have printed or written authority therefor from the carrier. This rule does not prohibit the carrying of any persou in case of an accident, or in other extreme emergencies. b. Except in case of emergency, no driver shall permit a motor vehicle to which he is assigned to be driven by any person not authorized to drive such vehicle by the motor carrier in control thereof. Sec. 10. Penalties. Whoever violates any provision of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not less than twenty- five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) and shall stand committed until such fine is paid. ,. , Sec. 11. This ordinance is hereby deemed to be an emergency measure, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare in order to promote safety on the public highways in the Village of Mayfield and shall be in full force and effect from and aEter the date of its passage.
