ORDINANCE No.955 <br />gy'Mr, Davis <br />AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE PRIVATE USE OF FIRfi <br />HYDRANPS AND REPEAI.ING ORDINANCE N0.,820 <br />BE IT ORDAINID BY THE COUNCII, OF THE VILI.AGE OF MAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, <br />STATE OF_OHIO, THAT: ._ .. -- • - _ - . <br />Sec. 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation <br />( other than the Fire Department, or any other official or department of the <br />Village of Mayfield in_its official capacity) to tap or connect into, or use <br />any water f rom any fire hydrant within the Village of Mayfield, Ohio, whether <br />on or along dedicated or undedicated streets or on private property, except <br />in the following instances: <br />(a) For the extinguishment of Eires or other emergency use, <br />under the direction of the Fire Department; <br />(b) For use in the construction of new buildings or improvements <br />. upon permit obtained from the City of Cleveland Water Depart- <br />ment and from the Building Inspector oE the Village of Mayfield, <br />who shall require a deposit.in cash of $25.00 for each such <br />pexmit. The Fire Departmettt shall inspect the hydrant after <br />it has been so used, and, if all equipment obtained from the <br />Village for such purpose has been returned to the Village <br />and if no damage has been caused by the permit holder to the <br />hydrants or other property of the Village, the sum of $10.00 <br />out of said cash deposit shall be returned to the permit <br />holder; the balance of the deposit shall be retained by <br />the Village as payment for the services of the Fire Department <br />and the Building Inspector. If any o f such equipment has <br />not been.returned.to the Village or if there has been any <br />damage to the hydrants or other property of the Village, the <br />entire deposit shall be retained by the Village, and the <br />permit holder shall still be liable to the Village for the <br />amount of any damage caused by him in excess of the amount <br />of, such deposit. <br />Sec. 2. Whoever shall vi.olate Section 1 of this ordinance shall be <br />guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon being found guilty thereof, shall be punished <br />by a fine of not more than $500.00, or be imprisoned for not more than 30 days, <br />or both, and shall stand committed until such fine is paid. <br />Sec. 3. 9cistittg Ordinance No. 820, etttitled" An Ordinance Pertaining <br />to the Private Use of Fire Hydrants and Repealing Ordinance No. 506" is <br />hereby repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance. , <br />
