ORDINANCE NO. 2008-33 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT FOR PHASE 1 OF THE CUYAHOGA INNOVATION ZONES PILOT PROGRAM WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County has established an innovation zones pilot program ("CIZ"); and WHEREAS, the CIZ has been formed to accelerate the pace of innovation in the economy of Cuyahoga County and Northeast Ohio; and WHEREAS, in 2007, pursuant to the CIZ, the Mayfield Business Education Community Alliance Foundation ("Alliance") entered into a Grant Agreement with Cuyahoga County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Grant Agreement, the Alliance was awarded Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) in grant funds by the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County through the CIZ Program; and WHEREAS, the Village agreed to undertake the obligations of the Alliance under the Grant Agreement, as the "Anchor" under the Grant Agreement and agreed to form The Mayfield Innovation Zone, Inc., an Ohio non-profit corporation ("MIZ") to carry out the obligations of the Grant Agreement and facilitate the purposes of the Beta Strategy Group and the CIZ; and WHEREAS, at this time, the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County have revised the Pilot Program to allow the Village to directly enter into a Grant Agreement with Cuyahoga County instead of and in place of the Mayfield Business Education Community Alliance Foundation; and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to enter into the Grant Agreement to carry out its obligations and facilitate the purposes of the CIZ. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby and herein authorized and directed to enter into the Grant Agreement For Phase 1 Of The Cuyahoga Innovation Zones Pilot Program in a form substantially similar to that attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. The Anchor Agreement for Phase I of the Cuyahoga Innovation Zones Pilot Program is hereby and herein terminated.
