RESOLUTION NO. 2017-08 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bodnar and Council as a Whole A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN AND PARTICIPATION IN THE READY CUYAHOGA COUNTY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the ReadyCertify Program is designed to assist local communities and organizations in developing and operating their own emergency management programs to properly plan, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies or disasters; and WHEREAS, Mayfield Village desires to establish an Emergency Operations Plan ("EOP") and otherwise participate in the Ready Cuyahoga County Certification Program; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the EOP is to provide a flexible blueprint for addressing major emergencies, and to unify Mayfield Village departments and community partners in a common effort to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from the threats and hazards that pose a risk to Mayfield Village. The Mayfield Village EOP is designed to work in concert with departmental standard operating guidelines, and municipal, regional, and statewide EOPs; and WHEREAS, the EOP provides a systematic approach to incident management by adopting the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS enables effective and efficient incident management by integrating a combination of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications operating within a common organizational structure; and WHEREAS, the EOP is designed to reduce the loss of life and property to Mayfield Village residents resulting from natural, technological, or adversarial disasters; and WHEREAS, this Council finds and determines that it is in the best interest for the health, safety and welfare of all Village residents to establish an Emergency Operations Plan and participate in the Ready Cuyahoga County Certification Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Mayfield Village, County of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio: SECTION 1. The Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio hereby supports the establishment of an Emergency Operations Plan and the participation in the Ready Cuyahoga County Certification Program and establishes the Emergency Operations Plan as set forth in Exhibit "A," which is attached and incorporated herein.
