<br />A RESOLUTION THANKING MAYFIELD VILLAGE POLICE
<br />EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTTERRY SKOMROCK FOR OVER TWENTY-SIX YEARS -
<br />OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE AND CONGRATULATING HER ON HER RETIREMENT
<br />WHEREAS, in 1986, Terry Skomrock was hired as Secretary for the Mayrield Village Police Department after being
<br />recruited from a neighboring police department, where she had worked for 12 years;,and
<br />WHEREAS, in 1995, upon demonstrating her skills as office managec, communications supervisor, and assistant to the
<br />police departrnenYs various executive branches, Terry was promoted to the position of Police Executive Assistant; and
<br />WHEREAS, since 1996, Terry has been instrumental in increasing participation in the Suburban Police Anti-Crime
<br />Network (SPAN)...Her dedication to sharing information.on criminal suspects, arrested individuals, photos of unknown
<br />suspects where identification was needed, etc. has increased the distribution list from approximately 32 detectives to
<br />over 560 law enforcement officers from local, state and.federal govemment offices all over N/E Ohio and beyond; and
<br />WHEREAS, Terry: has received a number of commendations and awards: In 2010, she received a Certificate of
<br />Recognition presented by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security, Strategic Analysis and
<br />Information Center for her dedication to the protection and security of the citizens of Ohio and for her professionalism
<br />and leadership in the statewide information-sharing initiative.through the Terrorism Liaison Officer (TLO) Program; in
<br />2012, Terry received a sim'ilar award in appreciation of her support of Ohio Homeland Security and for promoting
<br />excellent information-sharing practices. Her direct efforts have led to the identification, arrest and conviction of
<br />criminals all over N/E Ohio and beyond; and .
<br />WHEREAS, Terry has received several commendations from the Mayor and the Police Chief for her outstanding work
<br />with the Detective Bureau in a Pubiic Indecency case, which led to the identification and conviction of the suspect; for
<br />her assistance with a call involving an emotionally-disturbed male; her actions during a severe storm which helped to
<br />restore order and enabled the police and fire departments to better respond to the extreme demands placed upon them
<br />during the disaster; and
<br />WHEREAS, Terry has always been willing to take on additional responsibility, serving as Liaison to the Records
<br />Commission as vuell as to the State Auditors Office. Terry has always been passionate about her work in Mayfieid
<br />Village and her efforts have gone a long way to enhancing the professional image of our police department. Her
<br />willingness to volunteer her time with local civic organizations and charities, such•as the American Red Cross Drive,
<br />Cancer Relay for Life, Women Safe House, Hospice, Crime Stoppers and several animal rescue groups have also
<br />greatly enhanced our community; and WHEREAS, Terry Skomrock officially retired from the Mayfield vllage Pofice Department on January 5, 2013 after 26
<br />years of service here and 38 years as a civilian in law enforcement.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
<br />Terry Skomrock be and is hereby recognized for
<br />over twenty-six (26) years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayrield Village.
<br />SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor, Council, residents, employers, employees and officials wish to
<br />thank Terry Skomrock for her many years of dedicated service and congratulate her on her retirement.
<br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of
<br />this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its
<br />committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory
<br />requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
<br />SECTION 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this
<br />Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Terry Skomrock. The other original shall be placed in the
<br />permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Terry Skomrock.
<br />SECTION 4. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council an the signature of the
<br />Mayor, or as may otherwise be provided by law.
