RESOLUTION 2011-06 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bruce G. Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />r ~ 0 ~, ~; <br />A RESOLUTION THANKING MAYFIELD VILLAGE POLICE CHIEF <br />PATRICK J. DEARDEN FOR OVER THIRTY-SIX YEARS <br />OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON HIS RETIREMENT <br />WHEREAS, on April 22, 2011, Police Chief Patrick J. Dearden retired after serving Mayfield <br />Village effectively and faithfully through the course of five decades; <br />WHEREAS, Patrick Dearden earned his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Lakeland <br />Community College and on January 1, 1975, joined our Mayfield Village Police Department as a full-time <br />Police Patrolman. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1990; was promoted to Lieutenant in 1999, serving as <br />Executive Lieutenant, and was promoted to Police Chief in 2003; <br />WHEREAS, Chief Dearden has served as President of the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 57 <br />since 2001; <br />WHEREAS, Chief Dearden's career with Mayfield Village has exemplified how the exercise of a <br />municipality's police power can be positive, professional, and personal; Patrick Dearden connects with <br />people-residents and non-residents alike. He has impressed everyone with his work ethic, integrity and <br />compassion. He has personified community service and commands the respect borne of dealing fairly. We <br />have come to rely on Chief Dearden's skill and leadership. His respect for the spirit as well as the letter of <br />the law and his dedication to service should be commended. He will be missed; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to overseeing the 24/7 operation of his Department, Chief Dearden <br />shepherded the successful completion of Mayfield Village's beautiful new Police Station. It is <br />appropriately the crowning touch of his career-a career that has meant so much to our community. We <br />are proud to offer this resolution honoring Patrick Dearden. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />Patrick J. Dearden be and is hereby recognized for <br />over thirty-six (36) years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayfield Village. <br />SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor, Council, residents, employers, employees and <br />officials wish to thank Patrick J. Dearden for his many years of dedicated service and congratulate him on <br />his retirement. <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to <br />the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of <br />this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the <br />~ Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original <br />copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Patrick J. Dearden. The other original <br />shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Patrick J. Dearden. <br />SECTION 4.
