? ? <br />?? / <br />f? <br />I ( <br />( <br />21 <br />L.? <br />Resolution No. 2004-19 <br />Introduced by: Mayor Bruce Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A Resolution of Appreciation to Bernie Samac <br />WHEREAS, Bernie Samac embarked upon his career in public service in 1973 when <br />he began working in the Housing Department for the City of University Heights; and <br />WHEREAS, Bernie continued his service to the public by working in the communities of <br />Mentor, Solon, Highland Heights and Mayfield Heights before coming to MayFeld Village in late <br />1993; <br />WHEREAS, Bernie worked closely with Gus Amendola, his predecessor, to learn the. intricate <br />details of the Village pertaining to its commercial and residential properties and building and zoning <br />codes, quickly assuming the duties of Building Com?nissioner and facilitating the smooth transition to <br />a separate Building Department while at the same time assisting the Service Director with his duties; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure, Bernie supervised the largest expansion of commercial <br />development in recent memory with the expansion of Progressive's world headqnarters on Wilson <br />Mills Road, the construcdon of two new state-of-the-art Village facilities: the Fire Department and <br />Parkview Pool, and the construction of a new Progressive campus on S.O.M. Center Road; and <br />WHEREAS, Bemie is certifed by the State of Ohio for building, electrical, plumbing and <br />HVAC, a member of many noteworthy organizations such as the Building Officials of Northeastern <br />Ohio, International Association of Electrical Inspectors and the Ohio Plumbing Institute; and <br />N'HEREAS, Bernie has announced his retirement and should not be allowed to leave without <br />recognition for his many years of faithful and dedicated service to Mayfield Village and other <br />communities; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COIIIYCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />THAT.• <br />Bernie Samac be and is hereby recognized for his devoted service to Mayfield Village. <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and the <br />residents of the Municipality hereby express their sincere appreciation to Bernie Samac for his many years of " <br />service and hereby congratulate him upon his retirement from the Village. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and d'uected to prepare duplicate original <br />copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Bemie Samac. The other original shall lie <br />placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Bemie Samac. <br />Section 3.
