<br />? <br />I ? <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95- <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole ? <br />? <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION j <br />FOR THE CREATION OF AN IMPARTIAL PANEL TO ? <br />REVIEW AND EVALUATE THE ECONOMIC STATUS OF I <br />THE MAYFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the perception of a community and the maintenance of <br />its property values is profoundly influenced by the quality of the <br />school system serving that community; and <br />WHEREAS, in the past the Mayfield City Schools have provided <br />a positive influence in the communities it serves; and <br />WHEREAS, two consecutive school levy requests have been <br />defeated by the voters of the District; and <br />WHEREAS, the School Board is about to impose significant <br />reductions in its programs which will lower the educational <br />standards to a level approaching minimum state standards; and <br />WHEREAS, these reductions will adversely affect both the <br />students of our community as well as is property values. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayfield Education-Business-Community <br />Alliance create a Financial Review Panel for the express purpose of <br />examining the financial condition,of the Mayfield City School <br />District. <br />SECTION 2. That the membership on this panel should be as <br />follows: <br />a. The Chairman, appointed by the Alliance, who has a <br />knowledge of school finance but is not currently <br />associated with the Mayfield Schools. <br />; b. Four members, one eaCh appointed by the four largest <br />employers in the Di:strict (Progressive Insurance, <br />Meridia-Hillcrest Hospital, Al1en-Bradley and Picker X- <br />Ray), who are financial analysts but who do not live in <br />the school district. <br />c. Qne member appointed by the Mayfield Board of Education. <br />.. d. Three public members,, one appointed by the Mayfield <br />Parent-Teacher Coordinating Council, 1995 Citizens' <br />Mayfield Committee £or Quality Education and one by the <br />- Citizens for Responsible School S.ystem.
