RESOLUTION NO. 95-1 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />IMPLORING THE GREATER CLEVELAND REGIONAL <br />TRANSIT AUTHORITY TO GRANDFATHER IN ALL NON-ADA- <br />ELIGIBLE COMMUNITY RESPONSIVE TRANSIT RIDERS AGE <br />SIXTY FIVE YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER FOR CATEGORY <br />I OR RTA'S NEW ADA PARATRANSIT SERVICE <br />WHEREAS, this Administration and Council have become aware <br />that the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will <br />transform the current Community Responsive Transit (CRT) into a new <br />paratransit service which complies with the Americans With <br />Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, this change will have a major impact on the current <br />CRT riders and the ability of older persons to access door to door <br />transportation services in Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Mayfield has numerous older people <br />within its jurisdiction, many of whom are current CRT riders and <br />who will no longer be eligible for the paratransit system in <br />Cuyahoga County if RTA does not grandfather them in. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Council on behalf of the <br />residents and citizens of the Village of Mayfield do hereby and <br />herein implore RTA to grandfather in all non-ADA-eligible Community <br />Responsive Transit riders age sixty-five (65) years of age and <br />older for Category-I or RTA's new ADA paratransit service. <br />SECTION 2. Council and the Mayor further implore the <br />Metropolitan Area Specialized Transportation Service to continue <br />its work to find the best transportation possible for older riders <br />sixty-five (65) years and older. <br />SECTION 3. The Clerk of Council is directed to certify a copy <br />of this Resolution to the Regional Transit Authority, Board of <br />Trustees, and to the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and to <br />the Metropolitan Area Specialized Transportation Service. <br />SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
