RESOLUTION NO. 95- 11 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />IMPLORING GOVERNOR VOINOVICH NOT TO PROCEED WITH <br />THE PLANNED REDISTRIBUTION OF STATE EDUCATION FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, Governor Voinovich is considering a proposal to <br />redistribute State education funds from the "wealthier" school <br />districts to the less substantial school districts throughout the <br />State; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield School District is by no means "wealthy", <br />although the citizens in this district have been supportive of a <br />high importance being placed upon educational opportunities for the <br />young people in this district; and <br />WHEREAS, it would be totally unfair for the State government <br />to punish those districts who support their school systems in favor <br />of those school districts who do not. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor, and Council, on behalf of the <br />citizens and businesses in the Village of Mayfield, do hereby and <br />herein implore Governor George Voinovich not to proceed with the <br />- planned redistribution of State funds away from school districts <br />such as Mayfield. <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is directed to certify a copy <br />of this Resolution to the office of Governor George Voinovich, <br />Columbus, Ohio. <br />1 <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and'-determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 4. This Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the <br />health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village. <br />It shall, therefore, take effect immediately upon passage by the <br />affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to <br />Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the earliest time <br />allowed by law. <br />? <br />RK FIXL , <br />Council President <br />
