RESOLUTION NO. 95-16 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />OF CONDOLENCE AND SUPPORT FOR THE VICTIMS, <br />THEIR FAMILIES, AND THE RESCUE WORKERS INVOLVED <br />IN THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING <br />WHEREAS, the senseless tragedy which occurred in Oklahoma City <br />has touched the hearts of all Americans, causing us to voluntarily <br />come together to support our fellow Americans who have suffered <br />this terrible loss; and <br />WHEREAS, the numerous victims, including many young <br />individuals, and their families, are suffering the results of the <br />worst act of terrorism that our County has seen on its soil, and <br />exposes to us the vulnerability that all of us have as Americans <br />where freedom of speech and freedom of movement are held sacred; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention of this community to express its <br />sincere condolences, and a token of our support, to the City, the <br />families, and to the rescue workers who are involved in this <br />horrendous aftermath. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor, his Administration and the Council <br />of the Village of Mayfield, on behalf of all of its residents and <br />businesses, do hereby and herein express our sincere sympathy and <br />condolences to the families of those victims in the terrible <br />bombing of April 19, 1995. <br />SECTION 2. The Mayor, his Administration and Council do <br />further indicate their support and encouragement to the families of <br />those victims, and to the rescue workers who are so deeply involved <br />in the restoration of their lives and City after such senseless <br />devastation. <br />SECTION 3. As a further sign of our support, the Mayor and <br />Council do authorize a donation in the amount of $ 1,500.00 to be <br />sent to the appropriate agency for support of the victims' families <br />and the rescue workers involved in the clean up effort. <br />SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
