RESOLUTION NO. 95-16
INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole
A RESOLUTION
OF CONDOLENCE AND SUPPORT FOR THE VICTIMS,
THEIR FAMILIES, AND THE RESCUE WORKERS INVOLVED
IN THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING
WHEREAS, the senseless tragedy which occurred in Oklahoma City
has touched the hearts of all Americans, causing us to voluntarily
come together to support our fellow Americans who have suffered
this terrible loss; and
WHEREAS, the numerous victims, including many young
individuals, and their families, are suffering the results of the
worst act of terrorism that our County has seen on its soil, and
exposes to us the vulnerability that all of us have as Americans
where freedom of speech and freedom of movement are held sacred;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of this community to express its
sincere condolences, and a token of our support, to the City, the
families, and to the rescue workers who are involved in this
horrendous aftermath.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD
VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor, his Administration and the Council
of the Village of Mayfield, on behalf of all of its residents and
businesses, do hereby and herein express our sincere sympathy and
condolences to the families of those victims in the terrible
bombing of April 19, 1995.
SECTION 2. The Mayor, his Administration and Council do
further indicate their support and encouragement to the families of
those victims, and to the rescue workers who are so deeply involved
in the restoration of their lives and City after such senseless
devastation.
SECTION 3. As a further sign of our support, the Mayor and
Council do authorize a donation in the amount of $ 1,500.00 to be
sent to the appropriate agency for support of the victims' families
and the rescue workers involved in the clean up effort.
SECTION 4. The Council finds and determines that all formal
actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution
have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that
deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in
such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in
compliance with all statutory requirements including the
requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
