RE50LUTION NO. 95-46 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING MAYOR MICHAEL WHITE IN HIS EFFORTS <br />TO RETAIN THE NFL CLEVELAND BROWNS IN THE CITY OF CLEVELAND <br />WHEREAS, the NFL Cleveland Browns have had a professional team <br />in the City of Cleveland for over 50 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Browns have recently announced their <br />decision to leave the City of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the continued presence of the Cleveland Browns would <br />be a significant asset to the City of Cleveland and its surrounding <br />communities, including the Village of Mayfield; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Michael White, Mayor of the City of Cleveland, <br />has invested considerable efforts to assure that the Cleveland <br />Browns remain in the City of Cleveland, Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Mayfield wishes to join Mayor Michael <br />White in support of his efforts to retain the Cleveland Browns in <br />the City.of Cleveland. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council of the Village of Mayfield <br />hereby support Mayor Michael White in his efforts to retain the NFL <br />Cleveland Browns in the City of Cleveland, Ohio. <br />SECTION 2. That the Director of Finance be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to pay to Save our Browns Committee the sum <br />of one thousand dollars ($1000.00) for the continuation of the <br />effort to retain the Cleveland Browns and provide professional <br />football in the greater Cleveland area. Payment shall be made from <br />the General Fund/Council Other <br />SECTION 3. The Mayor and Council of the Village of Mayfield <br />urge all citizens and businesses in Cuyahoga County to support <br />Mayor Michael White's efforts to retain the Cleveland Browns. <br />SECTION 4. A copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Mayor <br />Michael White, Mayor of the City of Cleveland, Ohio. <br />SECTION 5. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all, statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohi:o Revised Code.
