3 <br />1383.()2 Authority to Adopt and Promulgate Rules. <br />Authority is hereby conferred upon the Building Commissioner to adopt <br />and promulgate rules based on the standards of the National Fire Codes <br />embodying details of installation and construction of autonralic fire <br />suppression systems to carry info effect the provisions of this chapter. <br />Approval of devices shall be based on reports of a nationally recognized <br />testing laboratory. All rules adopted by the Building Conuuissioner under <br />this section shall be promulgated at least one rnonllr before application and <br />enforcement. <br />1383.03 Buildings And Occupancies Requiring Automatic Fire <br />Suppression Systems. <br />Automatic fire suppression systems shall be installed and maintained <br />as follows: <br />(a) All new buildings 2500 square feet in area or more as herein defit~ed. <br />(b) All additions to buildings as in subsection (a) hereof where the total <br />area of the addition as herein defined is 25UU square feet or more, <br />including any additional story or mezzanine, the addition shall have <br />installed a complete fire suppression system. There shall be installed <br />between any new additions requiring a fire suppression system and an Y <br />uri-suppressed area, a fire wall in accordance with the fire resistance <br />rating in Section 907.01 O.B.B.C. <br />(c) Basement and cellar additions as in subsection (a) hereof where the <br />addition is 2,000 square feet or more, or the total of the cotplete <br />basement or cellar is 2,000 square feet or more. <br />(d) All buildings, regardless of area, in use group li. EEigl~-Eiazard as <br />defined in Article 3, U.B.B.C. including and mixed uses. <br />(e) All fire suppression systems shall be supervised by a remote-station <br />system or central-station system. <br />(f) Automatic Fire Detection and Fire Protective Signaling systems shall <br />be installed ire all buildings requiring automatic fire suppression systems <br />in accordance with the provisions of Article 10 of tl~e Ohio Basic Building <br />
