I f <br />CONFINED SPACE <br />ENTRY/EXIT/RESCUE <br />29CFR Pt 1910 <br />I. What is Confined Space? <br />A Permit Required Confined Space means an enclosed space which: <br />1. Is large enough and so configured than an employee can bodily enter and <br />perform assigned work. <br />2. Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit. (Some examples are aeration <br />tanks, vessels, manholes, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, pits, and diked areas. <br />Specific Plant examples would include Zmpro reactors, Boilers, incinerators.) <br />3. Is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. <br />4. Has one or more of the Following characteristics: <br />a. Contains or has known potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere. <br />b. Contains a material with the potential for engulfinent of an eatrant. <br />c. Has an internal configuration such that an entrant could be trapped or <br />asphyxiated by inwardly converging walls or a floor sloping downward and <br />taping to a smaller cross section. <br />d. Contains any other recognized serious safery or health hazards. <br />2.
