161 55.gns 1185. 16 <br />B. Signs at Fuel Pumps/Service Islands. These signs shall be limited to <br />those which display information regarding type of service provided or <br />other informatfon essential in directing or instructing the motorist <br />who has entered the station area. The number, area and height of such <br />signs shall be as determined by the Architectural Board of Review. <br />C. Canopies. For canopy structures which shelter service islands, no <br />signs shall be displayed on the canopy fascia area. Furthermore, <br />the canopy fascia area shall be nonilluminated and shall be designed <br />in a manner which does not call attention to the canopy structure. <br />(11) Total allowable sign space. The Building Commissioner is directed to <br />allocate the total allowable sign space for a building among the individual <br />units as follows: maxiinum square footage allowed divided by total building <br />frontage resulting in the square footage allowed per frontage foot of each <br />building tenant. <br />(12) Supplementary regulationso In addition to the signs permitted herein, in <br />cases where the building has a dock area facing a location other than the <br />street upon which the building fronts, additional signs shall be permitted <br />by the Commissioner commensurate with the size and location of the area <br />to be used solely for directional purposes in conjunction with the intended <br />use of the dock area. (Ord. 85-16. Passed 7-21-86. ) <br />1185.16 SIGNS PERMITTED IN ALL DISTRICTS; STANDAR,DS. <br />Notwithstanding any ather provisions of this chapter, the following types of signs <br />shall be permitted in any district: <br />(a) Informational Signo One informational sign not exceeding six square feet in <br />area or four feet in height above natural grade, and located not less than five <br />feet from any lot line shall be permitted. Such signs shall be uniform under <br />standards set by the Building Commissioner. <br />(b) Memorial Sign. One memorial sign not to exceed four square feet in area, <br />provided same is placed flat against a wall or fence shall be permitted. <br />(c) Temporary Signs. Temporary signs announcing any public, charitable, civic, <br />community, educational or religious event or function shall be permitted. All <br />temporary signs shall be located no closer than ten feet from any lot line, <br />shall not exceed thirty-two square feet in area and shall not exceed six feet <br />in height above natural grade. Illumination is permitted subject to the <br />requirements of this chapter. (Ord. 85-16o Passed 7-21-86.) <br />(d) Political Signs. Political signs shall be permitted in all zoning districts but <br />may be displayed only in accordance with the following regulations: <br />(1) Such signs shall be located nat less than twenty feet from the right-of-way <br />li ne. <br />(2) No sign shall exceed nine square feet in area. <br />(3) Such signs shall not be illuminated in any manner. <br />(4) Such signs shall be located as close to the center of the property as possible <br />as measured by the front footage. <br />1994 Replacement
