15 CHARTER Art. IV, Sec 5 <br />ACTICLE IV <br />THE MAYOR <br />SECTION lv TERM. <br />The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years commencing <br />on the first day of January next following such election, and shall <br />serve until his successor is duly elected and qualified. <br />SECTIOIV 2. QUALIFICATIONS. <br />The Mayor shall have physically resided and been a gualified <br />elector of the Municipality for at least three (3) continuous years <br />immediately preceding his election and shall continue to physically <br />reside in and be a qualified elector of the Municipality throughout <br />his term of officeo The Mayor shall not hold any other elected <br />public office or other employment, with Mayfield Village, but may <br />be a notary public, a member of the State militia or reserve corp <br />of the United States, unless otherwise prohibited by this Charter. <br />(Amended 11-4-86.) <br />SECTION 3. JUDICIAL POWERS. <br />The Mayor shall have all the judicial powers granted to Mayors <br />by the laws of Ohio. <br />SECTION 4. LEGISLATIVE POWERS. <br />The Mayor shall attend Council meetings, but shall have no <br />vote therein except in case of a tie vote of the members of <br />Council, and in the case of any such tie, the vote of the Mayor <br />shall for all purposes be deemed equivalent to a vote of a member <br />of Council. He shall have the right to recommend and introduce <br />legislation, and to take part in the discussion of all matters <br />coming before Council. <br />SECTION 5. EXECUTIVE POWERS. <br />(A) The Mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the <br />Municipality. Except as may otherwise be provided in this Charter, <br />he shall: <br />(1) Supervise the administration of the Municipality's <br />affairs; <br />(2) Except for committees of Council, appoint such <br />committees and their chairman as he deems <br />necessary, subject to confirmation by a majority <br />vote of the members of Council, and exercise <br />control over all committees and departments of the <br />Municipality, except Council and committees <br />thereof; <br />(3) Be the chief conservator of the peace within the <br />Municipality and cause all laws and ordinances to <br />be in force therein; <br />(4) See that all terms and conditions imposed in favor <br />of the Municipality or its inhabitants in any <br />franchise or contract to which the Municipality is <br />a party are faithfully kept and performed; <br />1994 Replacement
