RESOLUTION NO. 93-4 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />PROCLAIMING MARCH 21-27, 1993 AS TORNADO SAFETY WEEK AND <br />URGING PARTICIPATION IN TORNADO SAFETY ACTIVITIES. <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village and Cuyahoga County is located in <br />an area of the State of Ohio described as Tornado Alley, wherein <br />the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and <br />property from tornados are high; and <br />WHEREAS, Community awareness and planning for such threats of <br />tornadoes can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, <br />particularly among special populations such as school children. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Village of Mayfield join the Board of <br />Commissioners and Governor George V. Voinovich in proclaiming March <br />21-27, 1993 as "Ohio Tornado Safety Week" in and throughout <br />Mayfield Village. <br />Section 2. That the Village urges all school and other <br />community groups to organize and conduct tornado safety activities. <br />Section 3. That the Village urges all citizens of the Village <br />to be aware of and participate in Tornado Safety Week activities <br />and to become informed about tornado safety. <br />Section 4. That a tornado drill exercise will be conducted on <br />Wednesday, March 24, 1993 at 10:10 a.m. and that such drill <br />exercise specifically be designed for elementary school and local <br />municipal participation for testing of the Emergency Broadcast <br />System and other appropriate components of emergency management. <br />Section 5. That the Clerk of Council, be, and she is, hereby <br />instructed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Edwin C. Price <br />Director, Department of Community Services.; and one copy to Edmund <br />Mecklenburg, Manager, Emergency Management Division, with <br />instructions to forward a copy to each member of the Cuyahoga <br />Emergency Management Advisory Board. <br />SECTION 6. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, .took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section. 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
