RESOLUTION NO. 93-4 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 21-27, 1993 AS TORNADO SAFETY WEEK AND URGING PARTICIPATION IN TORNADO SAFETY ACTIVITIES. WHEREAS, Mayfield Village and Cuyahoga County is located in an area of the State of Ohio described as Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and property from tornados are high; and WHEREAS, Community awareness and planning for such threats of tornadoes can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special populations such as school children. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. That the Village of Mayfield join the Board of Commissioners and Governor George V. Voinovich in proclaiming March 21-27, 1993 as "Ohio Tornado Safety Week" in and throughout Mayfield Village. Section 2. That the Village urges all school and other community groups to organize and conduct tornado safety activities. Section 3. That the Village urges all citizens of the Village to be aware of and participate in Tornado Safety Week activities and to become informed about tornado safety. Section 4. That a tornado drill exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, March 24, 1993 at 10:10 a.m. and that such drill exercise specifically be designed for elementary school and local municipal participation for testing of the Emergency Broadcast System and other appropriate components of emergency management. Section 5. That the Clerk of Council, be, and she is, hereby instructed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Edwin C. Price Director, Department of Community Services.; and one copy to Edmund Mecklenburg, Manager, Emergency Management Division, with instructions to forward a copy to each member of the Cuyahoga Emergency Management Advisory Board. SECTION 6. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, .took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section. 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
