7/21/93 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-16 <br />INTRODUCED BY: <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />TO SUBMIT TO THE VOTERS A QUESTION <br />RELATING TO THE COMPENSATION FOR THE <br />OFFICE OF MAYOR <br />WHEREAS, Article III, Section 7, provides Council with the <br />duty to fix all compensation for employees of the Village, and <br />specifically for the Mayor, providing that said mayoral <br />compensation has been enacted by ordinance and submitted to the <br />electorate for approval by a majority vote thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, once adopted, such compensation shall become <br />effective on the first day of January of the following year and <br />shall remain in effect unless and until increased in accordance <br />with the Charter; and <br />WHEREAS, by reason of the Charter, the Mayor must fulfil all <br />of the managerial obligations for the Safety Department, as well as <br />overseeing all other departments and services within the Village; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, by reason of the Charter the Mayor is also obligated <br />to negotiate, review, and implement all contracts and obligations <br />of the Village for its employees as well as for and with the public <br />and business contractees who provide services and benefits to ou~- <br />constituents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That pursuant to the authority of Article III, <br />Section 7(a), of the Charter of the Village of Mayfield, the <br />compensation for the position of Mayor is hereby and herein <br />established so as not to exceed Fourteen Thousand Dollars <br />($14,000.00) per annum. <br />SECTION 2. That the question to be presented by the Board of <br />Elections on the November 2, 1993, election ballot, in the Village <br />of Mayfield, shall be as follows: <br />SHALL THE ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE COMPENSATION OF THE <br />POSITION OF MAYOR, SO AS NOT TO EXCEED FOURTEEN THOUSAND <br />DOLLARS ($14,000.00) PER ANNUM, BE ADOPTED? <br />YES <br />NO <br />SECTION 3. That the Clerk of Council is hereby and herein <br />directed to certify a copy of this Resolution to the Board of <br />Elections not later than sixty (60) days prior to the November 2, <br />1993, primary election. <br />
