-_ RESOLUTION NO. 93--1$ <br />~, INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO A SEVERE WIND STORM <br />ON JULY 28, 1993. <br />WHEREAS, on July 28, 1993, a severe wind storm impacted the <br />east side of Cleveland, the Village of Mayfield, and many other <br />communities in Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, the lives and well-being of thousands of the <br />residents of the Village of Mayfield have been interrupted during <br />the emergency; and <br />WHEREAS, the financial, human, and material resources of the <br />Village of Mayfield were taxed beyond their normal capability to <br />alleviate the emergency conditions and to protect the health and <br />safety of residents of the affected areas; and <br />WHEREAS, the performance of these services has placed an <br />extraordinary financial hardship on the budget of the Village of <br />Mayfield with recovery costs exceeding an estimated One Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00); and <br />WHEREAS, the clean up and electrical power outages will <br />continue for many days and further endangering the health and <br />welfare of the citizens. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Village of Mayfield requests that <br />Governor George V. Voinovich declare a state of emergency and order <br />the provision of available resources to the Village of Mayfield. <br />SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council be instructed to <br />transmit copies of this Resolution to Edwin C. Price, Director, <br />Department of Community Services, and Edmund M. Mecklenburg, <br />Manager, Emergency Management Division, with instructions to <br />forward a copy to each member of the Cuyahoga Emergency Management <br />Advisory Board, and Governor George V. Voinovich. <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
