-_ RESOLUTION NO. 93--1$ ~, INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO A SEVERE WIND STORM ON JULY 28, 1993. WHEREAS, on July 28, 1993, a severe wind storm impacted the east side of Cleveland, the Village of Mayfield, and many other communities in Cuyahoga County; and WHEREAS, the lives and well-being of thousands of the residents of the Village of Mayfield have been interrupted during the emergency; and WHEREAS, the financial, human, and material resources of the Village of Mayfield were taxed beyond their normal capability to alleviate the emergency conditions and to protect the health and safety of residents of the affected areas; and WHEREAS, the performance of these services has placed an extraordinary financial hardship on the budget of the Village of Mayfield with recovery costs exceeding an estimated One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00); and WHEREAS, the clean up and electrical power outages will continue for many days and further endangering the health and welfare of the citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. That the Village of Mayfield requests that Governor George V. Voinovich declare a state of emergency and order the provision of available resources to the Village of Mayfield. SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council be instructed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Edwin C. Price, Director, Department of Community Services, and Edmund M. Mecklenburg, Manager, Emergency Management Division, with instructions to forward a copy to each member of the Cuyahoga Emergency Management Advisory Board, and Governor George V. Voinovich. SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
