RESOLUTION NO. 93- 21 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole A RESOLUTION URGING POSTPONEMENT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GREAT LAKES WATER QUALITY INITIATIVE WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council support efforts to improve the environmental quality of the Great Lakes Basins; and WHEREAS, because of a number of serious inadequacies, the Federal government should postpone the implementation of the Great Lakes Water Quality Initiative until such time as a more comprehensive investigation of suspected pollutants is conducted, a cost benefit analysis is completed, and a plan is established to coordinate the proposed regulations with existing Federal mandates relative to Great L~alces Water Quality. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. That the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region V, is hereby and herein urged to postpone the implementation of the Great Lakes Water Quality Initiative until such time as a more comprehensive investigation of suspected pollutants is conducted, a cost and benefit analysis is completed, and a flan is established to coordinate the proposed regulations with existing Federal mandates relative to the Great Lakes Water Quality. SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council is directed to certify a copy of this Resolution to Wendy Schumacher, Water Quality Branch (WQS-16), US EPA Region V, 77 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois 60604. SECTION 3.
