i~
7
_ •4 ~S
~~ - Beta/SOM Center:. This 3.5-acre site, located immediately
south of the Village's existing playground, includes three
residential parcels and vacant land adjacent to Mayfield
=~ Racquet Club on Beta Drive.
- SOM Center: Business reuse options for this 6.5-acres are
;~ noted above.
These sites have already been analyzed by Rauschenbach,
~ Casini & Urban, Mayfield Village's architect, and found
~ generally to meet the community's long-term administrative and
police and fire protection needs. However, further studies
should be completed before a single site is selected.
_7 Accordingly, at this time they are all delineated as Option
Areas on the Land Use Plan.
Finally, while the Plan classifies Parkview Golf Course as
commercial recreation, it clearly represents an essential open
space within the community. Its function in meeting the
ti recreation needs of Mayfield Village and the surrpunding area
has been demonstrated to be of critical importance. Moreover,
as emphasized earlier in this chapter, Parkview Golf Course will
_`~ act as a major catalyst in fostering viable residential
development both to the north and south, Thus, in terms of
meeting recreational needs, as well as assuring a sound
residential environment, it is strongly recommended that this
_~ key open space be retained.
l~
~~
r
13
~~
