? 0 <br />1 ? <br />? Lol <br />NO. 2009-04 <br />A RESOLUTION TIiANHING AND CONGRATULATING <br />MAYFIELD VILLAGE PART-TIIVIE POLICE MECHANIC AND <br />AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICER KENNETH J. WHITMER FOR OVER FORTY-FIVE YEARS <br />OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE ON BEAALF OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />WI3EREAS, on February 28, 2009, Mayfield Village Part-Time Police Mechanic & Auxiliary Police Officer Kenneth <br />J. Whitmer retired after many years of faithful service. <br />WHEREAS, in June of 1961, Ken Whitmer joined our Mayfield Village Police Auxiliary Unit as an auxiliary police <br />officer, and has served as our most-senior Auxiliary Officer in the Unit.,Mayfield Village's Auxiliary Police Unit assists the <br />commissioned officers on the police department by helping with traffic control, special events and raising money for needed <br />equipment not in the budget. <br />WHEREAS, Ken and his wife Jean have been long-time residents of Mayfield Village. For many years, Ken worked <br />full-time for Deacon's Chrysler-Plymouth in Mayfield Village. He was hired as a part-time police mechanic for the Mayfield <br />Village Police Department in January of 1980, working days at Deacon's and nights and weekends for the Village. Ken <br />repaired and maintained service on our police vehicles; he worked solo until a few short years ago, when we hired an assistant <br />mechanic to help him service our fleet <br />WHEREAS, during his over 45 years with Mayfield Village, Ken has come in contact with many people, residents and non-residents alike; he impressed everyone with his work ethic and integrity. He was emblematic of small-town decency. We <br />consistently received positive comments about Ken's public service. <br />WHEREAS, Kenneth J. Whitrner's professional and personal service to Mayfield Village will surely be missed. His <br />commitment and dedication to the Village should be commended. We are proud to do so, with this Resolution honoring his <br />meritorious conduct. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Kenneth J. Whitmer be and is hereby recognized for <br />his over forty-tive (45) years of dedication and tireless service to Mayfield Village. <br />SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor, Council, residents, employers, employees and officials wish to <br />thank Kenneth J. Whitmer for many his years of dedicated service on behalf of the Village and congratulate him on his <br />retirement. <br />SECTION 2. The Council fmds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, <br />resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all. statutory requirements <br />including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 3. The Clerk of Councii is hereby authorized and directed to prepaze duplicate original copies of this <br />Resolution. One such original shall be presented to Kenneth J. VJhitmer. The other original shall be placed in the permanent <br />records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Kenneth J. Whitmer. <br />SECTION 4.
