RESOLUTION NO. 2007-06 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTIONADOPTING THE UPDATED 2007 CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />ALL NATURAL HAZARDS MITIGATION PLAN <br />14ND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, hazard mitigation is any sustainable action taken to reduce or eliminate damage <br />from future disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all communities that desire to apply <br />for mitigation programs to have an all natural hazard mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the all natural hazard mitigation plan must meet the criteria established by the <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and <br />WHEREAS, for disasters that are declared after November 1, 2003 the local government must <br />have an approved mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners received a grant for the <br />Cuyahoga County Division of Emergency Services to prepare such a mitigation plan which is <br />entitled the updated "2007 Cuyahoga County All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan"; and <br />WHEREAS, there must be documentation that the plan has been formally adopted by Council <br />requesting approval of the plan; and <br />WHEREAS, Council must document that the plan has been formally adopted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Mayfield has reviewed the updated 2007 <br />"Cuyahoga County All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Village of Mayfield does hereby adopt the updated 2007 Cuyahoga <br />County All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan. <br />SECTION 2. This Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and signature <br />of the Mayor, or as otherwise provided for by law. <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to <br />the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in <br />meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
