~~~ <br />i <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-06 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.. <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT' OF <br />THE MAYFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRfCT <br />PROPOSED .9-MILL PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT LEVY <br />WHEREAS, the voters in the Mayfield City School District approved a .2 mill levy in <br />support of the Mayfield High School field house in 1.986 and a .7 mill Permanent <br />Improvement levy in 2001; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed .9 mill Permanent Improvement levy will replace those <br />levies which have been paid in full; and <br />WHEREAS, since this Permanent Improvement levy will replace a levy which has <br />been paid in full, the levy will not create any new taxes and, in the future, will cost $27.56 a <br />year fora $100,000.00 home; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed :9 mill Permanent Improvement levy will be used to <br />address the health, safety, security and infrastructure issues facing every one of the school <br />buildings located within the district; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield City School District's oldest school buildings, the Mayfield <br />Middle School and the Gates Mills Elementary School, were built in 1925. The District's <br />"newest" building, Mayfield High School, was built in 1962. The wear and tear over the <br />decades is evident on school exteriors where brick and cement cracks greet students and <br />parents, as well as inside the schools where stairwells, classrooms, hallways, ceilings and <br />restrooms call for significant maintenance and repair vvork; and <br />WHEREAS, the money generated from the proposed Permanent Improvement levy <br />taxes may only be used to construct, add to or repair buildings, lay sidewalks, build parking <br />lots and make other such improvements of school property antl: assets. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED'. BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />
