RESOLUTION NO. 2006-14 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />IN SUPPORT OF CLEVELAND METROPARKS' APPLICATION TO THE CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY, NATURAL RESOURCE ADVISORY COUNCIL (NRAC) TO ACQUIRE <br />THREE PARCELS ALONG THE UPPER 40 DRIVE IN THE NORTH CHAGRIN <br />RESERVATION, THE APPLICATION BEING TITLED, "CHAGRIN VALLEY RAVINES, <br />RIDGES AND RIPARIAN PRESERVATION". <br />WHEREAS, Village Council finds it in the best interest of the Village and its residents to <br />support the grant application of the Cleveland Metroparks to acquire and manage the <br />Chagrin Valley Ravines, Ridges and Riparian Preservation projected located adjacent to <br />the North Chagrin Reservation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Metroparks have found this forest and riparian area represent s <br />high quality natural area and habitat native to Northeast, Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the North Chagrin Reservation is located within <br />Mayfield Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the addition of the Chagrin Valley Ravines, Ridges and Riparian Preservation <br />to the North Chagrin Reservation will serve to reduce surface runoff, improve water quality <br />of adjacent streams and preserve habitat for birds and wildlife; and <br />WHEREAS, the positive impact to the Chagrin River Watershed by sustaining this old <br />growth forest areas, in contrast to urban development is particularly significant given its <br />large size of 33 acres. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield and its Council recommend and support the <br />Cleveland Metroparks' application to the Cuyahoga County, Natural Resources Advisory <br />Council recommend and support the selection of the Chagrin Valley Ravines, Ridges and <br />Riparian Preservation for funding through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund. <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council <br />relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this <br />Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory <br />requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
