RESOLUTION NO. 2006-23
INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole
AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION
IN SUPPORT OF ISSUE #19 - A HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
REPLACEMENT/REDUCTION LEVY
WHEREAS, during 2006, Cuyahoga County has worked with more than 200
social services agencies in every community to serve more than 400,000 seniors,
100,000 children and thousands of other citizens. Through the County's collective
efforts, home care services for seniors have been extended, quality childcare
providers have been trained, and many adults have been able to secure employment
and become more self-sufficient;
WHEREAS, a 3.0 mill levy that provides funding for these services, will expire
at the end of 2007;
WHEREAS, on November 7, 2006, voters in Cuyahoga County will be asked
to approve Issue 19 - a Health and Human Services replacement/reduction levy;
WHEREAS, Issue 19 funds will be used to provide critical Health & Human
Services to Cuyahoga County residents;
WHEREAS, the approval of Issue 19 in November will replace and reduce the
levy, reducing the millage to 2.9 mills and ensuring that Cuyahoga County can
continue its support for the vital services provided to thousands of people in great
need; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mayfield finds it in the best interest of its residents
to support Issue #19.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD
VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield and its Council recommend and support
Issue #19, the health and human services levy.
SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby directed to transmit certified
copies of this resolution to County Commissioners Dimora, Hagan, and Jones.
SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the
Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings
of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting
in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all
statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio
Revised Code.
