RESOLUTION NO. 96 -15 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bruce G. Rinker and Council as a Whole A IZE~OLLJTION OF APPRECIATION TO JOHN 5m JAY WHEREAS, John S. Jay first joined the Mayfield Village Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer in 1965, serving the community and the police department in a volunteer capacity; and WHEREAS, John S. Jay was subsequently appointed as a full-time police officer on May 1st, 1968, and while holding that position, founded and commanded the police department's public relations and crime prevention bureaus; and served as one of the department's field training officers; and WHEREAS, John S. Jay was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on August 15th, 1977, and while holding that position, was appointed as the department's executive officer, and commander of the patrol and traffic divisions of the police department; and WHEREAS, John S. Jay was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on November 1st, 1989 and continued to serve with distinction until his retirement on May 18th, 1996; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant John S. Jay should be recognized for his 31 years of faithful and dedicated public service to the citizens and community of Mayfield Village, Ohio; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves and the residents of the Municipality hereby express their sincere appreciation to John S. Jay. Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to John S. Jay. The other original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to Lieutenant john S. jay. Section 3. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and signature of the Mayor, or as may otherwise be provided for in law.
