RESOLUTION NO. 96 -15 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bruce G. Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />A IZE~OLLJTION OF APPRECIATION TO <br />JOHN 5m JAY <br />WHEREAS, John S. Jay first joined the Mayfield Village Police Department as an <br />Auxiliary Police Officer in 1965, serving the community and the police department in a <br />volunteer capacity; and <br />WHEREAS, John S. Jay was subsequently appointed as a full-time police officer on May <br />1st, 1968, and while holding that position, founded and commanded the police department's <br />public relations and crime prevention bureaus; and served as one of the department's field <br />training officers; and <br />WHEREAS, John S. Jay was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on August 15th, 1977, <br />and while holding that position, was appointed as the department's executive officer, and <br />commander of the patrol and traffic divisions of the police department; and <br />WHEREAS, John S. Jay was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on November 1st, 1989 <br />and continued to serve with distinction until his retirement on May 18th, 1996; and <br />WHEREAS, Lieutenant John S. Jay should be recognized for his 31 years of faithful and <br />dedicated public service to the citizens and community of Mayfield Village, Ohio; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, on behalf of themselves <br />and the residents of the Municipality hereby express their sincere appreciation to John S. Jay. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare <br />duplicate original copies of this Resolution. One such original shall be presented to John S. Jay. <br />The other original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to <br />Lieutenant john S. jay. <br />Section 3. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and <br />signature of the Mayor, or as may otherwise be provided for in law. <br />
