ORDINANCE NO. 96-38 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE RESCUE <br />PUMPER WITH THE CONTINGENCY STATED HEREIN <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of Council to authorize the purchase <br />of a new rescue pumper for the Fire Department for an amount not to <br />exceed $150,000, with the following conditions: <br />(a) That rescue truck No. 612, in current service, will <br />continue to be useful to the fire service, and once it <br />becomes disabled, and/or no longer of service, or when <br />the repairs, other than routine maintenance, exceed <br />$2,500 for the remaining lifetime of such vehicle, that <br />Unit 612 will be disposed of and not replaced with a <br />substitute or new vehicle; and <br />(b) That the Fire Department will require no additional <br />pumper trucks during the next eighteen years, assuming no <br />significant changes in the conditions and/or population <br />of Mayfield Village. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Director of Finance are hereby <br />and herein authorized and directed to purchase a new rescue pumper <br />for the Fire Department for an amount not to exceed $150,000, upon <br />the terms and conditions indicated in the preamble hereof. <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of this Council relating to'the adoption of this Ordinance <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the health, safety and <br />welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village, Ohio, and for the <br />further reasons set forth in the preamble hereof. It shall, <br />therefore, take effect immediately upon the passage by the <br />affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to <br />Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the earliest time <br />allowed by law. <br />RK FIXJ?E:R <br />Council President <br />(2)
